Sailing with Dr. Radhakrishnan Our members Joseph Philip and Sebastian Cherukara have now returned after sailing with eminent Scientist Dr. Radhakrishnan. Dr. Radhakrishnan, popularly known as Dr. RAD is now circumnavigating the Globe in his yacht - the Eldemer. Dr. RAD who is now 83 years old has been sailing for over 5 decades. He is now our esteemed member and brings with him rich experience in sailing to share with us. Kerala Yachting Association (KYA) is the only association in Kerala affiliated to Yachting Association of India (YAI). KYA is also affiliated to National Optimist Association of India (NOAI) and Offshore Sailing Association of India (OSA).

KYA is attaining the status of the State body in Yachting sport for Kerala. Under KYA we already have 10 district associations and some sailing and boat clubs spread all across Kerala. KYA is taking advantage of the long sea coast and numerous water bodies of Kerala for sailing. Optimist Class yachts are used for training and competition for children aged between 7 and 15 years. Prominent adult class single handed yachts are the laser class.

35th National Games Registration of Sailors and trainers for 35th National Games

As the 35th National Games is to be conducted in Kerala in January 2011, KYA is registering sailors and qualified trainers interested in building the district teams and State team. As the National games are only for adults to race in laser radial class yachts, KYA request interested sailors and beginners to register here.

KYA is looking for land allotments to establish a sailing school in Cochin. KYA is also establishing a water sports centre in Munambam beach enclave for sea sailing and other water sports activities. To know more about the present training facilities click here
