About Us Kerala Yachting Association is affiliated to Yachting Association of India which is the apex body of yachting in India. Kerala Yachting Association is also affiliated to class associations like National Optimist Association of India as well as Offshore Sailing Association of India. Kerala Yachting Association gives training to young sailors at the training centre in Aroor. The Association has a large cache of sailing equipments. The Association is starting a sailing school in Cochin which would turn out many sailors for sports as well as leisure sailing. Kerala Yachting Association is also starting a water sports centre in the beach enclave in Munambam next to the break water. As the 35th National Games is scheduled to be conducted in Kerala, KYA is coordinating the yachting item among the 33 different items of sports being held. It is for the 1st time that Yachting as an item is introduced into National Games. KYA is responsible to train select and field the Kerala sailing team for the National Games. Kerala Yachting Association is committed to introduce and encourage the sport of sailing and other water sports in a big way to the local public especially the youth of Kerala and India by making available to them necessary facilities and training. An essential pre-requisite for yachting, especially at the training phase is the availability of wide stretches of water bodies. Kerala, especially the Cochin area is blessed with backwaters and rivers which provides the ideal locations for yachting. Kerala Yachting Association |
