Club
Facilities

Considering the vastness and variety of sporting opportunities in Water sports and yachting in particular, the Association has planned the infrastructure development with a two location approach, rather than concentrating all facilities at one location.  The basic yachting and dinghy sailing is located at one place and the facilities required for a higher level of items involving sophisticated equipment and ancillary tools is  located at another place.

Backwater facility

KYA has a back water facility on the banks of the backwaters of Cochin in Aroor. The boat yard at Praga Marine Pvt Ltd is the venue for basic training. The yachts for inland sailing are stored in this facility. There is a slip way and a small marina for yachts where members yachts could be taken care. The facility can be approached by road from Thoppumpady or from Aroor Junction in the Byepass road of Ernakulam. Could be approached through water from Thevara ferry which could be the nearest pick up point, ofcourse on prior arrangement.

Beach Facility

Munambam beech enclave, 4 kms down south from Cherai is the beach is a beautiful location for sailing. This location has been more or less finalized as the venue for 35th National Games being conducting in Kerala. This beach is the finest of beaches in Kerala.  Already teeming with thousands of tourists, it is one of the main tourist attractions for water sports enthusiasts, seaside vacationers, angling spot and ordinary families.  For a water sports enthusiast, Munambam will have all facilities for yachting in the sea, other sea-based water sports and will provide necessary equipments and implements.  Club’s own yachts will be available and besides it can provide all technical support for visiting yachts.

Very soon, Munambam Beech Enclave will be the main hub of all yachting activities with modern sophisticated equipment and trained support and training.

Sailing School and recreation centre

Being the State Body for yachting in Kerala, KYA is looking forward for allotment of land in Bholgatty Island through the Sports Council. As the mast of the big sea sailing yachts are tall and restricted to move beyond the 5 bridges bordering the Cochin Port, KYA has to resort to get land allotted from Cochin Port Trust. Space is going to be utilized for training in sailing, swimming, and other academics in sailing. Accommodation facilities for trainees, trainers and visiting officials’ and other persons are to be provided. Recreation for members are also to be provided here.
